PMA which is known as the Pakistan Military Academy is a federal service military academy in which the candidates are being trained for Two years and after which they are eligible to join national forces including the Pakistan Army. It is located at Kakol near Abbottabad in the North of Pakistan. The academy has three training battalions, and 12 companies. Another 2,000 guests each year, from over 34 countries, receive some training at PMA.
How to Join Pak Army through PMA Long Course
The PMA long course has the duration of 2 years which is further divided in to four segments of six months each. The students applying for Pakistan army after completing their graduation can make up to the army by passing the PMA long courses. For the eligibility of these long courses the candidates must have completed the education of 17 to 23 years. The candidates who have done the 2 years graduation and the serving PN and PAF individuals can also apply for the army and even the one who have done the 4 year graduation like BA and BSC can also apply for the Pakistan army. For the graduates they also require to submit the FA, FSC and even the equivalent result with the result of their graduation degree. The applicant is prescribed to submit the ID card with the application form and the attachment of 6 photographs which are being attested form the back be the gazette officer. The selection board is also required for the candidates which are repeating the test for the Pakistan army.
The educational philosophy of the academy is to impart more than just combat training. The academy provides such an environment that every cadet develops attributes of Courage, Discipline, Integrity, Dignity, Honor and Patriotism. Pakistan Military Academy is a highly residential baccalaureate college with about 100 halls of study, where each one of them is equipped with audio and visual equipment. The academy offers a two-year undergraduate program which is:
- Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.).
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A)
Including some common subjects as;
- National and International Affairs
- Islamic Studies
- General Science or Social Science
There are several trainings in which the potential candidates are being inculcated for the purpose of awakening and polishing the attributes and the qualities which are being made as an essential component for being a part of the Pakistani armed forces. These trainings include Professional skills of handling weapons, Tips of field craft, Use of signal equipment, Model discussions, Tutorial discussions, Tactical exercises without troops, Field exercises.
