The candidate applying in for the CSS examination should be Pakistani National, no matter what religion but he or she should be holding Pakistani Nationality. In the case of dual nationality the individual should hand over the international nationality and should inform the government regarding the handing over of the alternate nationality to its respective government. If an individual is married to someone having any other nationality is also not eligible until or unless he or she has priory informed the government of Pakistan.
The eligibility criteria are very much vast and strictly followed as there is no extension and change being accepted in the prescribed standards. The initial and basic requirement for being eligible to appear in the CSS examination is that the candidate must be graduated as minimum he or she should be bachelor’s degree holder from any renowned and HEC recognized university of Pakistan.
The other major criteria are of the age of the candidate applying for the CSS examination. As per the requirement of the Federal Public Service Commission and the Government of Pakistan the ages limit which is being announced in from 21 to 28 years. As there are various applications and appeal made to extend the age limit but all were rejected. The latest appeal which was being rejected on the account of age limit extension was made on the January, 2011 by the Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gillani. The age of the candidate will be considered from the Matriculation Certificate, School leaving Certificate or the Attested Birth Certificate of the candidate and once the date is being considered than it would not be changed at any respective cost.
The upper age is extended to 30 years only for few selected groups and people which includes the Candidates belonging to the Buddhist Community or a Scheduled Caste. Candidates who are permanent residents of Baluchistan, Dera Ismail Khan and Peshawar inclusive of the Frontier States of Chitral, Dir, Swat and Amb. Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur Districts, Mardan, Hazara Divisions and the Upper Tanawal area of Hazara Division. The other people who are considered eligible in this category includes the candidates who are Permanent residents of Azad Kashmir and are currently residing in Pakistan and even the residents of certain northern areas of Gilgit, Diamir, Baltistan, Ghizar and Ghanche. For candidates who are currently government servants inclusive of the government servants in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, who have rendered not less than two years of continuous government service
An individual can only appear for three times in the CSS examination and will not be given the fourth chance to appear in the examination. If the indivudal has made himself registered in any of the CSS examination but didn’t appeared in any of the paper than his or her appearance will not be counted in those three chances which are given to the candidate. The chance is availed only if any candidate makes himself or herself appear in any one or more subjects of the examination.
